Believers have freedom in Christ though everything in the world is not beneficial.1 As
believers, we are called to live to a higher standard.2 In living in the world, believers should
remain in fellowship with the Holy Spirit to discern the impact of what we subject ourselves to.3
Our thoughts are a direct reflection of what we have seen and heard; God desires us to think
about what is pure and holy.4 Therefore, we should set up safeguards and guidelines to protect
ourselves and others from Satan’s attacks.5

1

Galatians 5:13 - For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for
the flesh, but through love serve one another.
1 Corinthians 10:23 - All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all
things edify.

2

1 John 2:15 - Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is
not in him.
Romans 12:2 - And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that
you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
1 Corinthians 10:31 - Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

3

2 Corinthians 10:5 - We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God,
and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction,
for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

4

Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on
these things.
Habukkuk 1:13 - Your eyes are too pure to approve evil,
And You can not look on wickedness with favor.
Why do You look with favor
On those who deal treacherously?
Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up
Those more righteous than they?

5

2 Timothy 2:16-17 - But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will
spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
Psalm 101:1-4 - I will sing of loving kindness and justice,
To You, O LORD, I will sing praises.
I will give heed to the blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart.
I will set no worthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not fasten its grip on me.
A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will know no evil.
